Dry Needling

Dry needling is a safe, nonaddictive therapeutic treatment that involves inserting a thin needle into a muscle to make it function optimally, and it is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain. It can promote healing after injury, optimize recovery from working or exercising, and improve a patient’s ability to move with less pain. Dry needling can be used to reduce “muscle spasms” and to dissolve “trigger points”, which are common following an injury or degenerative process. Dry needling can often provide immediate relief of symptoms after treatment.

Dry needling improves healing time and reduces pain by:

  • Increasing blood flow to the muscle tissue,
  • Allowing muscles to stretch/relax with movement,
  • Decreasing tension in the muscles to help reduce pain and strain,
  • Deactivating painful trigger points,
  • Improving the brain’s ability to activate muscles, inhibit pain, and improve function.
